V1071LineDrawings Choose patterns with few seams.
V1071 Cut on sleeves such as dolman sleeves and raglan with a simple seam are far easier to sew than a set in sleeve.

Vogue 1071 - Top & Dress

Looser fitting garments are more successful until you know the tricks to making the pattern fit your body.
V1096 Elasticized waist on pants and skirt are easy and fit- forgiving.
V1096-2 It’s perfectly OK to skip some of the detailing on your first project. Details such as pockets, zippers and tabs can always be mastered later.
