  1. Question says:

hello Sandra, great blog and Thank you for the invaluable advice. In term of washing denim, how would you avoid breaking the fabric fibers? It always happens to me. I would like to use some hemp denim I purchased a while ago. However, it is so ‘heavy duty’ in term of thickness that I am pretty sure it won’t survive a wash (nor a third as you suggest above) and I will get those awfull broken fibers which will resist the iron steam. It would be great if you could give me a hint. Many thanks!

If you buy a good quality 100% denim in a 14 ounce weight this thread breaking problem will disappear. Stonemountain and Daughter in Berkeley California has some terrific denim. Buy the one without lycra. You can call them since everybody in the store sews.
    Good luck, Sandra
