I have had some great success making tankini tops recently. I took a basic halter top and lengthened it. Then I took in the side seams from the empire waist line to the top hip line. I lined the whole tank and used my customers own bras including the band for solid comfortable support. I removed the hook and eye tabs and replaced them with wide elastic the exact size of the tabs so that the tank could expand enough to get on and off but would support like a real bra should. My gals love them.

I bet those tankini tops look fabulous. You should post a picture of them in our Garment Gallery, we’d love to see them!

I wish you would reformat content for this site rather than link us to BurdaStyle.com. They don’t preserve the back button on the browser and it is very inconvenient. And generally for the amount of info, it just isn’t worth the bother. I’d prefer if you have a links page for things like that.

I was hoping there would be some video on making a bathing suit because I am making some now. I appreciated the tip about using lubricant on the needle, but you made me work too hard to sift that info out. Also after reading the titles, I was expecting a video on lycra and/or swim, but it was just articles. For me your videos add quite a lot over written instructions.

    Hi Bonnie:
Thanks for your comment. We’ll definitely keep in mind your suggestion about reformatting the content and ommitting the link.

I have also sent our production team an email suggesting a show on making swimsuits and sewing with Lycra. We are currently preparing for another round of production in September and your suggestion will be on the list of ones to consider.

Thanks for being a WebTV Student!
