Holiday Greetings!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FRIENDS

This month I seem to be doing a lot more cooking than sewing. I love baking Chrismas cookies, allowing myself to eat all of the broken or deformed ones. Here is my favorite cookie recipe:

SANDRA’S MOCHA POWER BALLS

2 STICKS OF SOFT BUTTER

½ CUP OF SUGAR

2 TSPS. VANILLA

2 CUPS OF FINELY CHOPPED PECANS

2 TSP. OF INSTANT COFFEE

¼ COCOA

1 ¾ CUPS FLOUR

½ TSP. SALT

Preheat oven to 325*. Grease cookie sheets. Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla, nuts , coffee, cocoa and salt. Shape into 1 inch balls and bake on a cookie sheet for 15 minutes. When cooled, roll in powdered sugar.

I did slip in a little sewing for myself to wear during the holidays . I made another pair of Vogue 1334 in a drapey stretch wool crepe. I made the blouse in a cobalt silk crepe de chine print to match a pair of strappy shoes I just bought. I love the outfit. Vogue photographed the pants and top on a very large model. The pants are way too tight on her and way to short. Make them in your size in a drapey fabric and you will just love them.

Power Sewing if offering a special on new subscriptions to our show, which now offers over 120 lessons and a new one every 2 weeks. Check out the gift idea for a friend or yourself. Talk your husband into sending you to San Francisco to sew with me for a week at my retreats.

Make a clear decision that you are going to have fun during the holidays, not try to kill yourself doing good works for others. Save a little energy for a little heart to heart talk with someone special in the family or to play a game with a grandchild. . Enjoy all of the holiday foods. We only eat these goodies once a year. Soak up all of the love that the season has in abundance.

Cheers, Sandra B.
