Hi Barney 45,
I wanted to do this some time ago. Sandra has a DVD out called something like, copy ready to wear. It explains how to pin all around the edges of the garment and use a technique like you would if you were brass rubbing to rub over with a pencil which gives you the lines required.
I dont know if its still available but it would be worth hunting for.

Hi. I have a beautiful top that i would like to copy. Has anyone every copied a top they made? If so what should i look out for? ie, how do i lay the front on the paper, then the back etc. its just i am having difficulty getting the exact front onto paper…. without unpicking the whole garment. How do i do it?
Will you be adding a patter cutting heading to your fourm here?
Many thanks all and happy sewing.
