Hi,
I am new to this site. I began sewing in Jr. High and High School. I only learned very basic stuff, but occasionally tried my hand at it after receiving a sewing machine as a gift from my husband back in the 1985. I got completely away from it after beginning to work full time, although I always had a strong desire to sew. With four children and not a lot of room, it didn't happen. I am recently widowed after 36 years of marriage, and decided to find a hobby, so I have returned to sewing once again. I bought a new sewing machine and serger and have checked out every book I could find at the library and sewing magazines as well. When I found a book I liked, I bought a copy of my own. I have several of Sandra's books on fitting, fabric and power sewing, home sewing, and a host of many others by those knowledgeable in sewing that cover every category that I have come across in my searches on the internet for good information sources for sewing. As I read the books, I went to the fabric stores to better understand the information on fabrics and other things covered in the books.

Then I joined this website, which brings to life the very things I am reading in the books. It makes it so much easier to understand terms and steps in the book when watching the video and also in the video, when I have a question about a technique, I was so happy to be able to just turn around from my desk and pull one of Sandra's books off the shelf and be able to look up the technique and review the show once with the book in hand to get it all straight in my head what's being talked about.

I have learned more with these books and video's than I did in all my years in school. I would encourage anyone else who is wanting to learn better and faster to get the books to follow along with the web shows. Each one enhances the other.

I am looking forward to learning to sew better and create fashion clothing for my grandchildren and also myself. I wanted to express my appreciation for this website and everyone involved in creating it. It is a great help to beginners and those returning to sewing as well.
