I have made VOGUE 1165 3 times: once in a medium weight cotton, one in a stretch cotton and one in a tissue wool crepe and the tucks have not rippled or been a problem in any way. If your fabrics are very thin, I would suggest the followng. Machine baste the middle of the tuck using a clear see through thread on the top and a fuisible thread on the bottom. When you do the initial press, the fusible thread will melt in the center of the crease on the wrong side to keep it crisp. Next spray the tucked area with spray sizing or spray starch to keep it stable as you sew. Press a again and i think your problems will be gone. Three inches of ease is allowed in the bust and more across the tummy because of the A shape. You can increase or reduce at the side seams to get the most flattering ease amount for your body. Keep at it you are going to love this blouse!

I have email Vogue a couple of times in the last couple weeks asking a question about Vogue Pattern 1165. I was requesting info on how much ease does this pattern have and now I have another question. When I sew the tucks, even using my even feed foot, the tuck ripples/waves – I used a poly/cotton fabric and a 100% cotton voille type fabric – still have the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions of preventing the ripple/wavey tucks.
