Dear Jill,
You pattern adjustments for the wrap top sounds just perfect but since her bust is so big, she may need an additional dart. In addition I would take 1/4 tucks out of the neckline tapering to 0 into the bodice which will bring the neck in closer. Pull in another 1/2 by cutting the fusible twill tape 1/2 shorter and shrinking i the fullness. What a champ you are. She is lucky to have you as a teacher.

As far as pants, you will get the best fit for her figure with Vogue 2948 wiht princess seams. I would lengthen the crotch and both above and below the knee. I she has a large butt, lengthen in the back crotch as well as adding height at the center back. If she has a big tummy, you may have to split and spread the patttern. Good luck to you!

Hi,

I'm trying to teach a 40 something woman how to sew. She's 6′ 2″ with an extremely large bust. My lessons will someday need to taper off and perhaps cease, but I want to leave her with patterns that fit her body. I'm using Sandra's books and videos for assistance. We altered and created a pair of pull- on pants. The looked OK, but the fit was still off. We'll try again.

Now we are trying to fit a wrap top created to be made from knits. Because of her large frame, I added length in both the armhole and the lower portion of the top, plus made a vertical split to add girth to the bottom of the top. In addition to her large bust, she has a full tummy. I pinned the pattern to her and I see that there is a potential problem of the neckline having gapposis. It's Vogue 8390. Any help is appreciated.
